NonStop Himalaya S8600 and S86000 Platforms
HP NonStop Himalaya S86000 High-End Server
In its position at the high
end of the Tandem HP NonStop Himalaya S86 server
family, the S86000 (1972) server with a slight
performance boost over its predecessor, the S76000. It
features the high- performance MIPS R14000 microprocessor,
which runs at 550 megahertz and includes 8 megabytes of DDR
cache—much more than that of the NonStop Himalaya S76000
(1971) server. The new Ultra SCSI I/O interconnect
technology provides a faster pipe for disk traffic. Memory-intensive
applications such as home location registries, trading systems, or
operational data stores are never a problem:
The Tandem HP NonStop
Himalaya S7000, S70000, S72000 and S74000 memory modules are not
compatible with the S76000 (1971) processor.
HP NonStop Himalaya S8600 Midrange Server
The Tandem HP NonStop
Himalaya S8600 (1963) midrange server delivers twice the
performance of its predecessor, the S7600 (1961), designed
for migration from the Tandem HP NonStop Himalaya S7400 server,
with much greater server’s performance. The Tandem NonStop (1963)
S8600 achieves its superior performance through the MIPS
R14000 microprocessor at 500 megahertz. It is available in three
configurations. The first is the (1963-B) S8600 PMF
with 1 gigabyte of main memory. The second is the (1963-C)
S8600 PMF with 2GB. The third is the (1963-D)
S8600 PMF with 4GB.
For customers wanting to
upgrade a Tandem HP NonStop Himalaya (1950) S700,
(1950) S7000 or (1960-A) S7400, (19xx) S7600
server to an S8600 server, processor and memory
upgrade credits are available.
HP NonStop Himalaya S860 and S86
Entry-Level Servers
The Tandem HP NonStop
Himalaya S860 and S86 entry-level servers—two-processor (R14000)
versions of the S86000 and S8600 servers—are ideal for
development tasks, and equally valuable for distributed branch
applications.
HP NonStop Himalaya S86000 Server
